BLACKPINK's Jisoo to release solo album for first time

SEOUL -- K-pop girl band BLACKPINK member Jisoo will release her very first solo album, the band's agency said in a statement without disclosing the release date. Previously, three other members of the four-member band have successfully released solo albums and Jisoo is the last member to go solo.

BLACKPINK, which debuted in August 2016, is South Korea's most successful K-pop girl band with a total of some five million album sales worldwide. While BTS pulled the popularity in the male idol sector, BLACKPINK led the K-pop fandom as an iconic girl band.

"Jisoo had been putting all her efforts into her music works and the shooting of her album jacket to keep her promise with the fans," YG said in a statement on January 2. The agency added that the 27-year-old will deliver her fans with good news soon.

Many fans have been dearly waiting for the news of Jisoo's solo album as all other three BLACKPINK members have already released their solo albums -- Jennie with a solo album titled "SOLO" released in November 2018, Rose with "R" released in March 2021, and Lisa with "Lalisa" released in September 2021. BLACKPINK members' solo albums immediately became global hits.

Although YG did not disclose the release date of Jisoo's solo album, it is likely that the singer to drop her album between February and June. The four-member band has two concert tour schedules in Thailand and United Arab Emirates in January and other concert schedules in June and July.

'Black Pink' Rosé, Lisa, Jisoo solo songs coming out

YG Entertainment announced that following the release of Blackpink's first full-length album in September, the solo songs of Rosé, Lisa, and Jisoo will be released sequentially.

YG Entertainment announced through a fan notice on the 1st, "Rosé and Lisa's solo work has already been completed, and Jisoo's solo song is currently being prepared hard."

Rosé, Lisa, and Jisoo's solo songs were scheduled to be released after the release of Blackpink's first full-length album.

Regarding this, YG said, "We agreed with the members that Blackpink's full comeback and first full-length album are the most important." I'm leaving," he said.

YG asked fans for their understanding about the delay in Rosé's solo debut.

YG explained, "In the case of Rosé, it took a long time because the plan was to release an album with multiple songs rather than a single song from the beginning."

In November 2018, YG was the first among Blackpink members to release Jennie's solo song 'SOLO'.

At the time, the song gained great popularity, ranking first on the real-time, daily, and weekly charts of major music sites in Korea. Overseas, they proved their global influence by reaching No. 1 on iTunes in 40 countries, No. 1 on the iTunes Worldwide Song Chart for the first time as a Korean female solo artist, and Top 10 on the U.S. iTunes.

With this additional notice from YG, expectations for the musical perfection of the Blackpink members' solo project, which Jennie first opened, have been steadily preparing for over a year.

YG expressed its gratitude, saying, "We are giving all our support and efforts so that Blackpink can grow into better music and great artists."

Lastly, YG added, "We would like to ask for your support and encouragement once again to the Blackpink members who are sweating and working hard in their last-minute preparations for this month's comeback."
